PORT CHARLOTTE — When Brandon Guyer reported to Charlotte Sports Park for spring training last year, everything still felt a “little weird” to him. He had only recently returned to action after missing the final four months of the 2012 season after tearing the labrum in his left shoulder, so he was still getting used to being back on the field.

Guyer was optioned to Triple-A Durham prior to the start of the season and never got called up to the majors. But that season in the minors helped him gain comfort and confidence in a shoulder that “has never felt better.”
