PUNTA GORDA — A month after residents pleaded with Punta Gorda City Council members to let them repair their own seawalls, bypassing a lengthy federal reimbursement process, FEMA — in a surprise twist Wednesday — agreed to let homeowners go ahead with repairs.
In reading an email from FEMA, City Manager Howard Kunik, said, “After consolidation, we agree, it is your call to make. If you want to remove an item from your claimed damages, you may do so without any ill effects or repercussions from FEMA.”
