That extra effort can sometimes pay off. For some special folks in Arcadia, the added work and creativity meant $50 to spend on Christmas gifts.

The Arcadia Housing Authority this month hosted a holiday home decorating contest. Winners living in one of the 130 rentals in the complex for families, seniors and the physically challenged were picked from the entries by three local judges looking for the best overall decorations, the neatest/cleanest property and the “Hollyest Jollyest.” Those three winners last Thursday were each given a $50 gift card to spend as they pleased. Punch and cookies capped the awarding of certificates and the gift cards. Congratulations to those community members contributing to the holiday spirit!
