PORT CHARLOTTE — A local man will face multiple charges after he fled from deputies, caused a crash, and attempted to get away by jumping into a canal, according to Charlotte County Sheriff’s deputies.
Tuesday afternoon, authorities tried to pull over the suspect — Alexander Alahouzos, 23, of Port Charlotte — for a traffic violation while he was driving his Ford pickup west on Midway Boulevard. Alahouzos then sped away and turned north onto U.S. 41, according to CCSO watch commander Lt. Richard McDonald, but he made it only a short distance before rear-ending a Ford Mustang around 12:40 p.m.
