Talking up penny tax

PUNTA GORDA — Local resident Jay Buckley thinks the city should use its percentage of a penny sales tax to construct a waterfront activity center where the YMCA now stands.

Other suggestions for the city’s percentage of the extra penny collected in the county included helping to pay for a reverse osmosis plant to generate water for the area, and to extend sidewalks and walkways throughout the city.
