CHARLOTTE COUNTY — If the challengers have their way, the race for District 4 county commissioner will come down to economic issues facing Charlotte and its residents.

Dave Ivankovic and Don Monroe have declared their candidacy for the seat currently held by Commissioner Stephen R. Deutsch. Ivankovic, a Republican, will face off with Deutsch in the Aug. 26 primary, while Monroe, with no party affiliation, will await the winner in the general election Nov. 4.
