PUNTA GORDA — As momentum builds to erect a Vietnam Memorial Wall in Laishley Park, supporters will have ample opportunities to help donate to the project at upcoming events that will mix fun and fundraising.

The Vietnam Wall of Southwest Florida Committee, representing veterans groups from across the region, is raising money to bring a half-size replica of the Washington, D.C., Vietnam Memorial Wall to Punta Gorda. With the fundraising kickoff held just two months ago, $45,000 already has been raised, said Bill Akins, VWSFC director of fundraising. Total costs for the project are expected to reach $300,000.
