SUN PHOTO BY BETSY WILLIAMS Under the watchful eye of Randy Stuart, site supervisor with Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity, a house in Punta Gorda at 3310 Ames St., which is near completion, received help on Wednesday from the defensive line of the Port Charlotte High School Pirate football team. Helping Habitat is a program that PCHS coach Jordan Ingman implemented three years ago. Once a week, players go to a Habitat home and help out where needed. Here, sophomore Brandon Mapp holds the furring strip while juniors Ernsley Guerrie and Jordan Romulus measure out the length needed, marking it for a cut. The strips then were nailed to the rafters of the garage, where Sheetrock then would be nailed. See more photos, page 12.
