Start the new year off by exploring the excellent programs and resources we have in Charlotte County. There are several events in January at our parks and unique historical areas that will help you enjoy the beautiful county in which we live.

• Explore one of our 18 Heritage Landmarks by taking a tour of the Cookie House. This building gets its name from the cookie-shaped wood slices that make up the walls of the structure. The building was part of the Bass Biological Laboratory complex in the early part of the last century. Free tours start approximately every 15 minutes between 1-4 p.m. and are scheduled for Fridays Jan. 12, 19, 26 and Feb. 9. Tours will also be available between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13. The Cookie House is located in Cedar Point Environmental Park, 2300 Placida Road, Englewood. For more information contact the Charlotte County Historical Center at 941-629-PAST (7278).
