The 1 percent Local Option Sales Tax Committee held its first meeting last week. The criteria to evaluate projects was discussed and an overview of projects suggested for consideration were highlighted.
The committee consists of representatives from a diverse sector of the Punta Gorda community whose charge is to recommend projects to the City Council that would be funded if the voter referendum to extend the sales tax is approved in November. The city anticipates receiving approximately $12 million over a six-year period.
