It was a windy day at the beach. A father and his son were enjoying themselves, flying a kite. Just as the boy was about to release the kite into the air, the wind stripped the handle that had the ball of string from his grasp. The wind-driven kite sailed out to sea, dragging the ball of string with it.
As I listened to the disappointed sighs of the boy, I fully expected to see the kite dive into the waves at any moment, without anyone to hold onto the string. Yet, for some strange reason, the kite kept flying. It soared into the air, dragging the ball of string through the water.
