More spring training sites a knuckleball of an idea
I’m having a tough time getting excited about building spring-training stadiums here for professional baseball teams.
The aborted plan to build a two-team complex in Palm Beach Gardens illustrated the pitfalls of trying to wedge a stadium into an upscale area of golf-course communities populated by seasonal residents and the recently retired. They’re less interested in the economic multiplier effect, and more concerned with the extra traffic and noise on the periphery of their communities.
