Christopher Best, 26, of Port Charlotte, was arrested on a DUI manslaughter charge after crashing his Oldsmobile into two roadside workers — killing one — late Wednesday on U.S. 41 in Charlotte Harbor.

It could happen to anyone. Virginia Zuppe left her keys with an auto mechanic for repairs, got a ride home and realized her house key was on the key ring. The shop was closed and she was locked out of her house.

Not knowing whom to call, a friend of the 72-year-old Punta Gorda resident found Port Charlotte Locksmith online. Its minimum quoted charge was $55. Virginia said a tech picked the lock in about 30 minutes. The charge was $389.
