We have heard of people who were drowning, and when the lifesaver came to save them, they fought against this! Seems that we, by nature, are forever “fighting” God. Do we keep His commandments? “No!” We may think we do, but we don’t. A little baby is absolutely helpless. So are we, in the spiritual world. We need help. That is one of the first things we must admit.
Paul said in Romans 7:18, “For the good I will to do, I do not; but the evil I will not to do, I practice.” A friend of mine would not go to the doctor. He contrived cancer. He said, “I’m going to lick this.” He later died of cancer. He would not admit he needed help. To please God, we need help, we must admit it. Can we forgive our own sins? “No!” We need help. Jesus had to shed His blood in order for our sins to be washed away.
