ENGLEWOOD — More than 100 eager shoppers watched the ribbon-cut ting which led to the opening of Suncoast Humane Society’s new Englewood Thrift Store.

The long-awaited opening at Palm Plaza in Englewood drew an estimated 1,200 shoppers at the store’s opening Friday morning. The first 50 shoppers to check out received a raffle ticket for a chance to win Mickey and Minnie Mouse Christmas decorations, both standing over 2 feet tall. With the drawing and the bargains, it wasn’t long before the check-out line snaked through the building.
