Best Buy general manager Patrick Jarrell said so many employees volunteered to work on Thanksgiving Day that he actually turned some away for the shift beginning at 2 p.m. — long before the Murdock electronics store opens.

“We asked the senior full-time people if they wanted to work, and most wanted the day off with their family,” Jarrell said Tuesday. “We went by seniority and found many of the younger employees were anxious to work on Thanksgiving. They want the money. They will be paid time and a half for the day.”
