PORT CHARLOTTE — Economic Crimes detectives are attempting to identify a woman who tried to use a stolen credit card at several locations in Port Charlotte last week. The victim reported that she had used her credit card at a local restaurant where she works to pay for her meal Dec. 11. When she couldn’t find the card later that same evening, she thought she had misplaced it. However, on Dec. 12, she received a notice from her bank that her credit card had been used at two different locations in Charlotte County — the Walmart Super Center located at 375 Kings Highway and at the Dollar Tree located at 1825 Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte. The purchase at the Dollar Tree had gone through, but the larger purchase attempt at Walmart had been declined. Both transactions took place between around 12:30 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. Dec. 12.

Detectives obtained copies of the surveillance video from Walmart of a white female suspect. The woman appears to be of heavier build, with brown or blonde hair that is pulled back. Anyone with information concerning the identity of the woman is asked to please call the Sheriff’s Office at 941-639-2101 (ask for Economic Crimes), or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
