Fire displaces Port Charlotte couple

A long-time Port Charlotte couple is displaced after their home was heavily damaged by a fire Sunday evening. Neighbors of the home on the 2500 block of Collingswood Boulevard described hearing an explosion. The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause. Officials say the couple may be unable to live in the home for up to six months.

PORT CHARLOTTE — Residents living on Collingswood Boulevard described hearing an explosion Sunday evening. Moments later, around 8:45 p.m., a neighboring house was engulfed in flames.

The couple living at the home on the 2500 block of Collingswood were able to make it out uninjured, but officials say the home may not be safe to live in for months.
