SARASOTA COUNTY — A 12th Judicial Circuit judge on Friday set bond at $200,000 for North Port Police Officer Melanie Turner, who was charged this week with sexual battery and false imprisonment, in connection with a March 2 incident, in which a woman allegedly was assaulted at her home by Turner and another officer.

Clad in orange jail scrubs and standing with her arms folded, Turner barely raised her head during her first appearance in front of Judge Rochelle Curley at the Sarasota County Jail.
