ENGLEWOOD — Economic Crimes detectives need assistance in identifying a man who fraudulently used a credit card at several locations in Charlotte County earlier this month. A Lee County man reported that someone had charged about $225 to his credit card on April 5 at the Publix located at 24501 Peachland Blvd. in Port Charlotte. The victim said other charges had been made on the account at locations in Englewood, Venice and North Port that same date. Those charges totaled just over $2,800. The man said he still had physical possession of his card. He cancelled that particular card upon learning of the fraudulent transactions.

During their investigation, Economic Crimes detectives found that, in addition to the initial charge, the account had been used to make charges at the Winn-Dixie, located at 1951 McCall Road, the Publix located at 1500 Placida Road and at the WalmMart located at 2931 McCall Road, all in the Englewood area. In total, more than $1,000 worth of fraudulent charges w ere transacted at locations in Charlotte County. Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect in this case is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 941-639-2101 (ask for Economic Crimes), or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
