EAST OF PUNTA GORDA — Patricia Fountain’s property at the end of Little Farm Road in eastern Charlotte County — a rural outpost if ever there was one — is inhospitable, at best.

Wild boars intrude past the fencing, four large gators had to be captured and removed, a bobcat chased her dog away for five days, and water moccasins swarm the marshland.
