Nixle free alert system to start in two weeks

CHARLOTTE COUNTY — Want to get a personal alert when there is a major road closure in Charlotte County? Or how about learning when someone has been reported as a missing endangered person in your area? Or maybe you want an anonymous way to send in a tip to the Sheriff’s Office. Now is the time to sign up, then. The Sheriff’s Office will be kicking off its new free alert system, known as Nixle, in just a couple of weeks. Those who have signed up for this free application will be able to get notifications on their smart phones, tablets or computers.

It is easy to sign up. Just go to the Sheriff’s Office’s website at www.ccso.org and click on the Nixle button in the lower left corner of the page. You will be redirected to the Nixle signup page. If you want to sign up only for mobile alerts, you can text your zip code to 888777. Or you can sign up if you have an existing Facebook account. A video explaining how to sign up has been posted to our Facebook page. So sign up today and stay connected to what is going on in your neighborhood in Charlotte County.
