SOUTHWEST FLORIDA — Eye doctors account for nearly half of the 100 physicians nationwide who receive the largest reimbursements from Medicare, newly released data show. And, not surprisingly, a significant portion of these physicians live in Florida, along with the elderly who require their services.

According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, 28 out of the top 100 physicians who accepted the greatest amount of Medicare payments in 2012 call Florida home. California, with a much larger population, was second, with 10 of the top 100.
