An area man is facing prison time for abusing about two dozen pit bulls when he was living in Muncie, Ind., in 2012. Authorities believe he was training the animals for dog fighting.
Rahsaan Ahmad Johnson, 38, of Port Charlotte, learned last week that the Indiana Court of Appeals had upheld 14 felony convictions against him on counts of possessing an animal for use in a fighting contest. In November 2012, he was convicted of those charges and seven counts of animal cruelty. A Delaware (Ind.) Circuit Court judge sentenced Johnson to four years in prison a few months later, but the defendant was allowed to remain free on bond while appealing the conviction.
