Couple claims code enforcement ‘selective’

Debbie Nemser and Ray Brown say they are being singled out by Charlotte County code enforcement, which issued them a citation for the trailer parked in their driveway. Brown, a disabled Vietnam veteran who works as a contractor, uses the trailer to take equipment to job sites. The trailer has since been removed.

PORT CHARLOTTE — A year ago, when Debbie Nemser received a violation notice for the trailer parked in her Port Charlotte driveway, she was shocked. After all, her husband is a contractor and needs the trailer to haul tools and equipment to various job sites.

Nemser believed she was unfairly targeted. If you drive up and down any street in Port Charlotte, she said you’re likely to see a trailer parked in somebody’s driveway. To prove her point, that’s exactly what she did, reporting seven of her neighbors as violators.
