Merchants ready for access roads to reopen

The new weir at the Pompano Waterway is helping to handle increased water capacity resulting from drainage improvements under U.S. 41. Within two weeks, the access roads at that location will be rebuilt and reopened, county officials said.

PORT CHARLOTTE — Business owners along the U.S. 41 access roads soon should see light at the end of the microtunneling project.

County officials said roadblocks on both sides of the highway at the Pompano Waterway, in place since January to complete drainage improvements, will reopen by the end of the month.
