‘Idol’ singer makes winning proposal

PORT CHARLOTTE — Michael White wooed the crowd Friday night during the Charlotte Idol competition, snagging first place. But the wooing was taken a step further when the 35-year-old singer popped the question to his longtime girlfriend, Kristen Eggers.

The singer, who is employed as an information technology specialist with the City of Punta Gorda, and his soon-to-be bride took center stage during White’s performance of Journey’s classic ballad “Faithfully.”
