Donald E. “Don” Ping, 74, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013.
He was born Aug. 29, 1939, in Lebanon, Ind.
Don was proud to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1957 to 1963. He was a beloved husband for 50 years — Don married Nadine on June 2, 1963. He was a Supervisor with Allison Gas Turbine in Indianapolis, Ind., with 28 years of service. He enjoyed coaching Little League and Junior League Baseball, as well as girls high school volleyball and basketball. Don and Nadine moved to Punta Gorda in 2000 from Indianapolis. He was a member of Burnt Store Presbyterian Church, the American Legion and the Punta Gorda Elks. Don was devoted to his family, and loved his sons, grandkids and daughters-in-law.
He is greatly missed by his wife, Nadine L. Ping; sons, Dean A. (Brandy) Ping of Blue Ridge, Texas, and Todd A. (Laura) Ping of Seminole, Fla.; sister, Jeanette Tobias of Lake Forest, Calif.; grandchildren, Samantha, Garrett, Carson and Bethany; and 24 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Estel and Helen Ping.
A service of Witness to the Resurrection in Don’s memory will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, at Burnt Store Presbyterian Church.
