E. Carolyn Sanders, 85, of Fleetville, Pa., passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at Allied Services Skilled Nursing Center in Scranton, Pa.

Carolyn lived in Northeastern Pennsylvania for over 70 years, where she had numerous friends and family. She was an extremely active volunteer for various organizations. Carolyn was a Lackawanna Trail High School PTA member, a founding member of the Lackawanna Trail High School Friends of Music Boosters, the first female member of the Lackawanna Trail School Board, a Member of the planning and zoning boards, Secretary/Treasurer of the Baylor’s Lake Association, golf league president, a Waverly Community House woman’s club member, and a bridge club participant.

She also enjoyed wintering in Port Charlotte, Fla., for over 20 years, where she organized Rally for the Cure Golf Tournaments, raising money for over 15 years to fund cancer research. While in Florida, she was extremely active in the Maple Leaf Golf & Country Club, and Port Charlotte United Methodist Church. Carolyn was a longtime member of Dalton United Methodist Church in Dalton, Pa.

She is survived by her daughters, Lynne (Robert) Richardson and Lydia (Scott) Hill; sons, John (Kathy) and David (Barbara); grandchildren, Robert, Brianna, John, Christine, Gregory, Brian, Jackson and Seneca; and great-grandchildren, William and Benjamin, with a third great-grandchild due at the end of the month. Virginia was the widow John W. Sanders of Allentown, Pa.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at Dalton United Methodist Church, 125 S. Turnpike Road, Dalton, PA 18414, conducted by the Rev. Lori Robinson, pastor.
