Walton H. Luttrell

Walton H. Luttrell, 88, of Punta Gorda, Fla., and formerly of Glasgow, Ky., departed this life Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, in Punta Gorda.

The Edmonson County, Ky., native was born Oct. 4, 1925, to Chester and Zora Davis Luttrell.

Walton was married to Mildred Loretta Minton Luttrell. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge; and retired from the Kentucky Department of Education as a Division Director. He was a former teacher at Hiseville school, a former Barren County School Superintendent, and was instrumental in the construction of the new Edmonson County High School. Walton was a member of Sweeden Missionary Baptist Church, Allen Lodge 24 F&AM, and attended Berean Baptist Church in Port Charlotte, Fla.

He is survived by a nephew, Grant L. (Tonda) Minton of Auburn, Ky.; niece, Beth (Donnie) Vincent of Sweeden, Ky.; and sister-in-law, Linda M. (John) Elmore of Punta Gorda. Walton was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Zora; his wife, Mildred; and an infant son, Jonathan Minton Luttrell.

The family received friends for visitation Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, and Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at Patton Funeral Home Brownsville Chapel. The funeral service followed Tuesday at the funeral home chapel, with burial at Sweeden Cemetery.
