Antonio M. Tosto, 96, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, in Port Charlotte.
He was born Dec. 5, 1917, in Bound Brook, N.J., to Carmello and Rosa Tosto.
Antonio served with the U.S. Army during World War II. After years of employment, he taught himself to cook, opened a restaurant, and enjoyed being both head Chef and owner. He and his wife Jean retired and moved from Long Island, N.Y., to Port Charlotte in 1986.
Antonio is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Jean; daughters, Roseann Bertucci, Barbara LaTorre and Carolyn Berry; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Antonio was preceded in death by three brothers.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with an Evening Wake Service at 7 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at Roberson Funeral Homes Port Charlotte Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, with Military Honors and Committal to follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, both in Port Charlotte.
