Carmen A. “Aunt Chick” Gibson, 71, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, in Port Charlotte.

She was born Sept. 6, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pa., to John Cavaliere and Mary Rose Hess Cavaliere.

Carmen came to Port Charlotte from New Jersey in 1965. She was an office manager, working for the Federal Government and Charlotte County, Fla., before her retirement. Carmen was pledge of the year in 1979. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, woman of the year 1977 with the Lee County, Fla., Marine Corps Ladies Auxiliary, and was of the Catholic faith. Anyone who met Aunt Chick found her to be charming, loving and caring.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Gibson of Port Charlotte; her three nephews, Dennis (Henrietta) Locker of Englewood, Fla., and Raymond Bayack and Gary Baumeister, both of Orlando, Fla.; and her stepdaughter, Debra DelBelso of New York.

Visitation is from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 2405 Harbor Blvd., Port Charlotte. The funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Fla.
