Herald L. Spisak

Herald L. Spisak, 90, of Port Charlotte, Fla., and formerly of Fairfield, Conn., passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, in Port Charlotte.

He was born Aug. 25, 1923, in Bridgeport, Conn., to Louis and Elizabeth Spisak.

Herald, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the retired owner and operator of a private Sanitation company, moved from his longtime home of Fairfield to Port Charlotte in late 2005. He was a Charter member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge 2220, and member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the VFW, all of Fairfield.

Herald is survived by his children, including his son, Stephen H. Spisak of Port Charlotte; and daughters, Theresa L. Rainville of Port Charlotte, and Linda (Joseph) Matthews Jr. of Stratford, Conn.; along with seven grandchildren, Nichole, Stephen, Joy, Joseph III, Amanda, Scott and Elizabeth; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Herald was preceded in death by a brother; three sisters; and his beloved wife of 40 years, Theresa “Mitzi” Spisak.

A Memorial service and committal will be held at a later date in Fairfield. Friends may visit www.robersonfh.com to sign the memory book and extend condolences to the family.
