Sandra M. Brown, 72, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014.

She was born Dec. 31, 1941, in Natick, Mass., to Norman and Sadie Blaisdell.

Sandra and her husband retired to this area in 1997 from East Moriches, Long Island, N.Y. Before retiring, Sandra had spent 10 years as a Sales Associate in the Children’s Dept of the Swezey’s Department Store. She was an amazing homemaker who loved quilting, as well as to cook and to bake. Sandra was known to give gifts of her baking not only to friends, but also to folks in the community. She was an enthusiastic boater and liked to fish. Sandra will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband, Russell E. Brown; children, Russell (Sandra) Brown Jr. of Manorville, N.Y., and Sheryl-lyn (Ken) Walz of Calverton, N.Y.; grandchildren, Rob McCabe, Evelyn V. McCabe, Melony Brown and April Holloway; great-granddaughter, Layla Holloway; brother, Norman Blaisdell; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Victor) Belanger; nieces; nephews; extended family; and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until a Celebration of Life Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E. Marion Ave., Punta Gorda.
