Donald Harry “Don” Skitt, 65, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte.
He was born Dec. 23, 1948, in Pawtucket, R.I., to Harry and Florence (nee Rawson) Skitt.
Don served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, and again during Vietnam, receiving numerous awards. He was the Maintenance Manager of the Hockomock YMCA before retiring. Donald was a member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed his 1964 Chevy Malibu S.S., and was a great pool and chess player.
Don is survived by his wife, with whom he has been with for 50 years, Rose Skitt; three brothers, William Skitt of North Attleboro, Mass., Ken (Beverly) Skitt of Greenville, R.I., and Thomas (Denise) Skitt of North Attleboro; sister, Gayle (John) Schmitz of East Sandwich, Mass.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Skitt.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2014, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 5265 Placida Road, Grove City, Fla. You may share a memory with the family at www.englewoodfh.com.
