James F. Howe Jr., 78, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014, in Port Charlotte, Fla.
He was born Nov. 21, 1935, in Middleborough, Mass., where he also was raised.
James was a veteran who proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He was the Information Technology Director for Charlotte and Hillsborough counties; vice president over information Technology at First Tennessee Bank in Memphis, Tenn.; and the Director of Data processing at Federal Express Corp. in Memphis.
James is survived by his son, Kevin J. Howe; his daughter-in-law, Pamela Howe; brother, Bobby Howe; niece, Robin Jackson; great-niece, Vivian Jackson; and great-nephew, Brett Jackson. He was preceded in death by his wife, MaryAnn Howe.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 4 p.m. until a Celebration of Life service at 4:30 p.m. today, Friday, April 18, 2014, at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 2405 Harbor Blvd., Port Charlotte. A graveside service will be held at noon Monday, April 21, 2014, at Bloomingdale Cemetery in Valrico, Fla., with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis would be greatly appreciated.
