Elmer Ray Nieberg Jr.

Elmer Ray “Buck” Nieberg Jr., 84, of Greenville, Ky., died Sunday, May 11, 2014, at his home.

He was born Aug. 26, 1929, in Covington, Ky.

Mr. Nieberg worked in law enforcement, and was a U.S. Army veteran. He graduated from Holmes High School in Covington, and attended Morehead State University. Mr. Nieberg was a member of the American Legion in Florida, and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sallie McLean Nieberg; sons, Gregg (Sara Acosta) Nieberg of Greenville, and Donald Wayne Nieberg of Greenville; grandchildren, Alex Nieberg, Jonathan Nieberg and Darrein Nieberg; and great-grandchild, Kaden Mathis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Nieberg Sr. and Mamie Hunter Nieberg; sisters, Beverly Hedlund and Carol King; and great-grandson, Jerod Nieberg.

Graveside funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, Ky., with Dr. Timothy H. Davis officiating. Burial will follow.
