Harry Howard Joyce passed into the arms of the Lord Saturday May 24, 2014.
He was loving husband of S. Lillian Joyce, and father of Douglas H. and David L. Joyce. One of five children born to Leon and Minnie Joyce, Harry was a star athlete in high school and an adventurous young man who joined the United States Navy during World War II and served honorably in the South Pacific theater of war. A graduate of Miami University of Ohio, Harry went on to a distinguished career with the Upjohn Pharmaceutical Co. as director of Medical Science Liaison international, and proud recipient of the Dr. William E. Upjohn Award. He was a spiritual man, raised Methodist, and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church while wintering in Punta Gorda, Fla. Harry was a man of character. A strong willed, proud American who put family first, enjoyed people, and was always quick with a compliment, a conversation, and a helping hand.
Harry will be greatly missed by his wife of 64 years, Lillian; his sons, Douglas and David; his grandchildren, Leland, Maddie, Elyse, Douglas Jr., Christopher, and Bethany; and his brother, Ronald. He was preceded in death by three months by his beloved identical twin, Albert.
A service in celebration of the life of Harry Howard Joyce will be held at 11 a.m. Friday June 6, 2014, at Sacred Heart Church. Donations to the Sacred Heart Catholic Faith Appeal are preferred in lieu of flowers. Condolences may be left at www.LTaylorfuneral.com.
