Robert Paul “Bob” Roach, Sr., 77, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Sunday June 1, 2014, at Tidewell Hospice House surrounded by his loving wife and children.
He was born March 17, 1937, in Johnstown, Pa., to Marguerite (nee Myers) Burger.
Bob graduated from Johnstown High School in 1955, and married the former Mary Jane Hippler Sept. 29, 1962. Upon graduating High School he served in the United States Navy as a photographer, reaching the rank of Petty Officer First Class. After his discharge, he was employed by Eastman Kodak Company in Technical Sales for 25 years, retiring in 1991, and then started his own consulting company. In retirement, he enjoyed building his home, traveling, and visiting his seven grandchildren.
He is survived and greatly missed by his wife, Mary Jane; sons, Robert, Jr. (Kristin) of Portland, Ore., and Sean (Melissa) of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Erin of Santa Cruz, Calif.; and grandchildren, Garrett and Gracie of Portland, Ty, Colby, and Chandler of Santa Cruz, and Ethan and Brenna of Dallas, who will dearly miss their PapPap.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014, in the Chapel at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda, FL with burial taking place at a the National Veteran’s Cemetery in Sarasota at a later date.
