William B. Cook, 85, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Signature Health Care of Port Charlotte.
He was born May 15, 1929, in Rutherford County, N.C., to Fons and Nora Cook, and moved to Port Charlotte from Tampa, Fla., in 1962.
William was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy and a retired painter. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife, of 50 years, Virginia (nee Copeland) Cook; a daughter, Gail Winter; two sons, James B. Nichols and William L. Nichols, all of Port Charlotte; a half-sister, Sue Jenkins of South Carolina; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
