Oswald O. Gibbons, 84, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at his residence.
Mr. Gibbons was born July 29, 1929, in Port of Spain, Trinidad, to Joseph and Florence (nee Lard) Gibbons, and moved to this area in July 1994 from Houston, Texas.
He worked as a sergeant of the New York City Police Department, and was a professor of criminal justice at the University of Houston, Texas. Mr. Gibbons was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army. He was also a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Port Charlotte.
Mr. Gibbons is survived by his loving wife, Jemma Farray-Gibbons of Port Charlotte; son, Glen Gibbons of Houston; and grandchild, Raven Pitre.
