John Rayburn Shelby

John Rayburn Shelby, 66, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014, in Port Charlotte, Fla.

He was born June 21, 1948, in Miami, Fla., to William P. and Reba R. Shelby.

John Shelby was the president of the family business, Bill’s Equipment and Rentals, located in Miami. He was an active member of Central and North Dade Church of Christ, as well as Peace River and Lemon Bay Churches of Christ. He was a Cub Scout leader and a member of the Lions Club.

John is survived by his mother, Reba R. Shelby; sister, Lewanna S. Caruso; brother-in-law, Joseph L. Caruso of Delray Beach, Fla.; niece, Nicole C. Tipton of Delray Beach; and numerous family and friends who would like to say, “We love you more … until we meet again.”

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at Lemon Bay Church of Christ in Englewood, Fla.
