Two people were arrested Sunday after striking a 14-year-old bicyclist with a Cadillac CTS. Theodore Fonfara, 66, and passenger Mary Jo Fonfara, 66, both of Port Charlotte, were traveling north on a driveway access at 24051 Peachland Boulevard. A 14-year-old female bicyclist was traveling west on the sidewalk of Peachland Boulevard, approaching the driveway. As she entered the crosswalk, the Fonfaras ran a stop sign and the front of their vehicle collided with her bicycle, according to the Florida Highway patrol. The two fled the scene, failing to render aid, and were later found at 24133 Peachland Boulevard.

Theodore was charged with leaving the scene of a crash without rendering aid, false reports of traffic crash, and resisting an officer without violence. Mary Jo was charged with false reports of traffic crash and resisting an officer without violence. Both were transported to the Charlotte County Jail. Theodore’s bond was $8,500, while Mary Jo’s was $3,500. The bicyclist was transported to Bayfront Health Port Charlotte with minor injuries.
