NORTH PORT — Four law enforcement officers have had their homes burglarized, with handguns and other items stolen, in the city since September, according to reports, but North Port Police Chief Kevin Vespia doesn’t believe law enforcement is being targeted specifically.

Reports show two homes were burglarized on Sept. 24, roughly around the same time, with a Smith & Wesson .38-caliber revolver being stolen from a Charlotte County Sheriff’s sergeant, and roughly $325 worth of damage done to the door of a home shared by two female North Port police officers.
