PORT CHARLOTTE — When deputies were stopping a car for running a stop sign around 9 p.m. Thursday at Longley Drive and U.S. 41, they noticed something tossed out the passenger-side window.

It turned out to be two bags containing a total of nearly 36 grams of cocaine — one large piece and several smaller pieces, according to a Charlotte County Sheriff’s report. That didn’t bode well for the passenger who allegedly threw it.
