PUNTA GORDA — A homeless man remained behind bars Monday after cutting skin off another man’s face at the Bread of Life Mission on Saturday, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.
Adrian Jackson, 57, allegedly held a 6-inch knife to the victim’s throat because he had asked Jackson to leave the property, since Jackson had been there a couple days earlier with a crack pipe. Jackson — who is black — told the victim, “You lying white cracker mother (expletive),” before cutting a piece of skin off his cheek, the report shows, and the incident was initially being looked at as a hate crime.
