The Port Charlotte High School junior varsity volleyball team needed to beat the Charlotte High School Tarpons to even out the season series. The Tarpons had beaten the Pirates in their first meeting in Punta Gorda on Sept. 19.
Everything was looking good for the Pirates as they were hosting the Tarpons on Senior Night with a large and loud crowd behind them. Although the Pirates’ starting setter, Katie Rioux, was out for the game for a Model United Nations event, the Port Charlotte team had prepared for her absence and felt comfortable with the lineup changes.
