Pirates suffer their first loss
LAKEWOOD RANCH — A missed extra point proved the difference in a 14-13 loss to Lakewood Ranch High School that cost Port Charlotte its first undefeated regular season Friday night.
Port Charlotte started slowly and never recover. The scoreless first quarter featured five penalties for 13 yards and a turnover deep in its territory. The Pirates got things moving in their second drive, with Martin Luther accounting for close to 50 yards and notching the first score of the game on a 4-yard touchdown run.
