FORT MYERS — The Sweet 16 banner hanging from the Alico Arena rafters is a testament to why more than 4,500 fans gladly woke up before 7 a.m. Tuesday to cheer on the Eagles.
It’s a memento of the first Sweet 16 run by a No. 15 seed, one that earned Florida Gulf Coast University the “Dunk City” nickname last season and still has the fanbase energized.
