PORT CHARLOTTE — The Tampa Bay Rays have maintained throughout spring training that results will not be a factor when they decide who will win the team’s fifth starter job.
Erik Bedard said he likes that approach. The veteran left-hander is one of three candidates vying to break camp as the Rays’ fifth starter, and he said taking pressure off of his results has allowed him to work on his stuff and get ready for the season, rather than focus on keeping his numbers in check.
